For thousands of years gemstones have been utilized in many, many different cultures throughout the world as tools and implements, but also as symbols of wealth and power. They were also believed to “have powers”. Often people carried stones as “good luck” charms, or wore them as amulets of “protection”. These ancient beliefs and lore are the beginnings of the current day’s study of metaphysical properties of gemstones.
